  • Lead piping designer of EPC maintenance projects (3MM TIC) to support production of colloidal and non-colloidal powders for the pharmaceutical industry.  

  • Such projects included integrations of new storage tanks, blowers, pneumatic powder conveyance lines and diverters to increase production capacity and process flexibility. 

  • Collaborate with client engineering during the analyzation of basic data, FEL phases, design reviews, detailed design, IFC and IFB releases ensuring project objectives achieved target solution, efficient installation and startup. 

 

DuPont Site Senior Principal Piping Mechanical Designer   Aug 2014-Nov 2020   KBR   Richmond, VA 

  • Developed, implemented and managed a site wide process of scanning and modeling piping systems in support of mechanical integrity, sustainability and reliability management. Directed multi locational teams to generate inspection documentation necessary for EPA and OSHA requirements. Coordinated surveys, scans, modeling, design administration efforts, client reviews and deliverable package checking and releases. 

  • Main driver of an effort which implemented the utilization of 3D data capture on every EPC project which increased installation accuracy and efficiency as well as reduced engineering and construction manhours. 

  • Lead piping designer of multiple EPC maintenance projects (1MM TIC) in support of Tyvek, Nomex, and Kevlar production. Collaborated with site process engineering and management during design reviews from project kickoff through IFC and installation. 

  • Responsible for generating E3D, PDMS and CAD detailed design deliverables of chemical manufacturing processes improvements per client, BPE, GMP, ISO, ASME and PIP standards. 

  • Remaining cognizant of project goals, man hours, budget, target dates, team members, and resources thus enhancing the overall design and expediting the project. 

  • Provide direction and support to field personnel prior to and during installation. 

  • Additional retrofit projects such as ambient air analyzation, process water filtration, cooling water distribution, steam distribution, and backflow prevention. 

 

Lead Piping Mechanical Designer   Sept 2013-June 2014   Jacobs   Elk View, WV 

  • Lead the piping and mechanical portion of natural gas compression stations modularly designed EPC projects. (15MM TIC) Generated PDMS and computer aided IFC design deliverables per client, AGA, and ASME standards to facilitate grassroots projects. Deliverables such as site layouts, equipment arrangements, process skid layouts, piping isometrics, system isometrics, equipment and piping support details, PIDs, flow diagrams, and bill of material. 

  • Lead the piping and mechanical portion of a polymer screen exchanger upgrade retrofit EPC project. (12MM TIC) Project included piping systems such as pneumatic conveyance and hydraulic control.  

 
Lead Piping Mechanical Designer   Nov 2012-Sept 2013   APS   Colonial Heights, VA 

  • Lead the piping and mechanical design portion of an acid extraction EPC project upstream of thermal oxidation. Researched and selected applicable pipe specs. Generated PDMS catalogue components and piping specs. 

  • Created FEL greenfield plant layout and model from front end technical description of a straw based cellulosic ethanol plant.  

 

Lead Piping Mechanical Designer   Feb 2012-Nov 2012   Evonik   Theodore, AL 

  • Lead the piping and mechanical design portion of an acid absorption expansion EPC project (30MM TIC) which involved the addition of acid absorption vessels, amide heater, degassers and associated piping. A preceding tie-in package was also created.  Responsible for creating PDMS design deliverables per client and ASME standards to facilitate fabrication and installation of equipment, piping and supports. Collected accurate field data and determined tie points. Created documentation required for stress analysis. 

 

Piping Mechanical Designer   Sept 2007-Feb 2012   KBR   Newark, DE 

  • Responsible for creating PDMS detailed design deliverables (IFC) per client and ASME standard in support of EPC projects of chemical manufacturing facilities. (200MM – 400MM TIC)  

  • Designer on a team in support of an effluent particulate filtration necessary for production of silver paste 25MM TIC. 

  • While part of a site team, I lead the piping and mechanical portion of multiple EPC maintenance projects. (1MM TIC) Administer design reviews with client, vendor and construction. Participate in interdisciplinary reviews. Create and gather information required for stress analysis of piping systems. Perform accurate field work and instrument data.

  • Created 3D models and 2D deliverables utilizing AutoCAD & MicroStation to facilitate brownfield expansion projects of substations. Responsible for creating design deliverables per client and IEEE standards such as wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, single lines, riser diagrams, foundation and grounding details, switchyard layout plans and elevations for such clients as BGE, PECO and PSEG. 

  • Lead team in the production of combining multiple revisions of different design packages into one current master-file. Responsible for training team members, delegation of work, and ensuring productivity of the team.

  • Assembled and tested gas chromatographs per client’s specifications. Designed a tool which was implemented in the testing processes. Improved mechanical test after proving specific components defective by means of observation and experimentation then developing a better solution. Created assembly instruction manual.  

  

Chemical Operator Aug 1997-Sept 1999   Optimer, Inc   Wilmington, DE 

  • Operated and maintained a single screw 16 end polymer extruder and pneumatic winders in the production of polymer fibers. 

  • Assisted in the redesign and reassembly of a twin-screw polymer extruder as well as its material feed, catalyst feed and quenching systems.
